Cleveland-Elyria metro lag behind Louisville/Jefferson County in 2019

The Cleveland-Elyria metro area exported $8.8 billion in 2019, less than exports from Louisville/Jefferson County in 2019, according to the International Trade Administration.

A study from the Brookings Institute found competition between areas within the United States increases exports, which in turn generates stronger sales and more jobs for American workers.

The Cleveland-Elyria metro area consists of five counties.

The Louisville/Jefferson County metro area comprises 10 counties exporting $9.1 billion in 2019.

The metro area with the most exports was Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land with $129.7 billion exported.
