On May 4, 1987, President Ronald Reagan issued a proclamation recognizing the work of Corrections Officers the first full week of May each year.
Here at the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, we have some of the very best. These men and woman are locked up with the inmates 12 hours a day, seven days a week for all 365 days per year. They have gotten assaulted and spit on and yet continue to watch over the inmate population for modest pay and virtually no public recognition because they work where most of the public never sees.
YOUR Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Officers save countless lives from suicide attempts. They work with and de-escalate some who suffer with significant mental illness and addictions as well as those who are violent. They work hard daily among a difficult population.
If you hadn’t heard, in 2021, they earned a very rare 100% compliance rating in a very detailed jail inspection meeting or exceeding in every single state standard.
Recently in a letter, a retired inspector referred to the Tuscarawas County Jail as one of the State of Ohio’s high functioning jails and we keep getting better every day!
Thank you to all of my staff.
If you know one, give them a big thanks from the community as well.
Sheriff Orvis Campbell
