On May 23, 1940, Chief Deputy Martin Myers of the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office was shot and killed while attempting to make an arrest in Oldtown Valley. Martin’s name was engraved on the walls of the National Law Enforcement Officer’s memorial in 2019.
The center of this frame is the crystal plaque etched with Chief Deputy Myers’ photograph that was used during the ceremony where his name was unveiled on the wall.
This beautiful arrangement of news articles and incredible framing was provided as a donation from the Berlin Creek Gallery and it’s size, design and quality are stunning.
A big thank you to Linkoln Grant, Alysha Troyer, Nancy Tarzan and all who helped put this piece of history together for the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office.
This piece now hangs in the main Hallway of the Office as a reminder of the dangers of this profession and a tribute to Chief Martin’s sacrifice.
