The Stark County Health Department Offers Support to Jail Inmates Being Released
(Stark County, Ohio) – The Stark County Sheriff’s Office is announcing a new partnership with the Stark County Health Department.
The Stark County Health Department contacted the Stark County Sheriff’s Office with the idea to start supplying care packages to inmates as they are released from the Stark County Jail.
“As the county heath department, we feel that it is our duty to help every resident especially those transitioning back to the community,” explained Director of Nursing Amanda Uhler. “Our team was pleased to create this campaign and assemble care packages that contain important resources. Together, we will work to keep Stark County a safe and healthy place.”
The contents of the care packages vary depending on the donations the Health Department receives. Items may include bus passes, hygiene products, contacts for local resources, and more.
“When we provide those exiting our jail with resources and support, we are contributing to a reduction in recidivism,” added Sheriff George T. Maier.
The Health Department presented 100 bags full of supplies to the Sheriff’s Office and will continue to supply more as donations become available.
