Geauga Park District is thrilled to announce that a TREMENDOUS tuliptree, located at The West Woods and nominated by Chief Naturalist John Kolar, has been recognized as Geauga County's biggest tuliptree on public land in Geauga Soil & Water Conservation District's 2022 BIG TREE Contest!
Impressive and immense, this tuliptree stands approximately 157 feet tall with a crown spread of 89.15 feet and circumference of 181.2 inches. Executive Director John Oros was honored to accept its plaque, which will be on display at The West Woods Nature Center for all to enjoy, during last night's annual dinner meeting of the Geauga SWCD.
Gail Prunty, Geauga SWCD's education/communications specialist, shared this fantastic insight in her notification letter to Chief Naturalist John: "Imagine all that this tree has seen through the many decades of its existence! Furthermore, your tree provides so many benefits including improved air and water quality, wildlife habitat and species diversity, healthier soil, erosion and flooding control, increased aesthetics and property value, countless economic benefits, and overall improved watershed health."
Congratulations
