State Rep. Sarah Fowler Arthur | The Ohio House of Representatives
State Representative Sarah Fowler Arthur (R-Ashtabula) has announced that over $5 million will be allocated to four major economic development projects in Ashtabula County. This funding is part of the Appalachian Community Grant Program.
The projects include:
- A $276,187 investment to construct two kayak launch points and establish the Twin Bridges Water Trail on the Scenic Waterway of Conneaut Creek.
- An allocation of $860,000 for the creation of stone break walls to mitigate and prevent erosion along the Western shoreline at Geneva Township Park.
- A sum of $2,621,152 aimed at revitalizing downtown Geneva and promoting outdoor recreation.
- A grant of $1,642,695 for rejuvenating the City of Ashtabula and enhancing its historic downtown characteristics.
Fowler Arthur commented on this significant funding: “This transformative funding will enhance the experiences of all those that visit Ashtabula County.”
In total, over $52 million was awarded to various economic development projects across Ohio's Appalachian region. These projects aim to improve waterfronts, trails, parks, and historic downtown districts.
