State Rep. Sarah Fowler Arthur | The Ohio House of Representatives
Ohio House Speaker Matt Huffman has announced that State Representative Sarah Fowler Arthur will chair the House Education (K-12) Committee in the 136th General Assembly. The announcement was made on Tuesday.
"House committees are a critical part of ensuring an efficient legislative process," said Speaker Huffman. "Having previously served as vice chair of this committee in the past General Assembly, I am confident in Representative Fowler Arthur’s experience and expertise as she steps into the role of leading the House Education Committee."
Fowler Arthur is entering her third term in the Ohio House of Representatives. She has an extensive background, having served for eight years on the Ohio State Board of Education from 2013 to 2020, where she held various chair and vice-chair positions. In addition to her previous role as Vice Chair of the Primary & Secondary Education Committee during the 135th General Assembly, she has participated in several other legislative committees, including Families & Aging, Behavioral Health, Aviation & Aerospace, Agriculture & Conservation, Armed Services & Veterans Affairs, and State & Local Government.
"I am honored to be chosen as Chair of the House Education Committee by Speaker Matt Huffman," said Fowler Arthur. "As the 135th General Assembly Vice Chair, I had the pleasure to serve under the leadership of both Chair Bird and Chair Manning, and I look forward to continuing our good work on behalf of parents, children, teachers, and taxpayers. I have always put a strong emphasis on protecting parents’ rights and responsibility to choose the best education option(s) for their child(ren). As we continue to expand school choice and access to education options, we must strive to minimize unnecessary regulation of all schools – public and private."
