Chardon Local Schools issued the following announcement on Oct. 21.
Chardon Middle School students in teacher Jackie Brown’s seventh-grade science class have been busy learning about the Earth-Moon-Sun system. Included in this curricular unit is a study of the phases of the moon. To facilitate student learning about the moon phases, Brown incorporated a memorable hands-on project into the lesson on Oct. 21.
Each student was provided with their own pack of store-packaged cookies. With face masks still on, desktop shields up, and handwashing and desk sanitizing before and after the project, students independently worked on applying the sugar cookies’ cream filling to the top surface of the cookies in order to create the different parts of the moon that are illuminated during each moon phase.
