Public sap gathering is one of the most exciting parts of this event — even when it's a bit of a treasure hunt! Last week's less-than-ideal-for-sugaring weather resulted in some sap being spoiled by growing bacterial, which had to be dumped when found to make way for more of the good stuff. The helpful process made those occasional clear buckets even more thrilling to find in the sugarbush!
Let's hope for some good, consistent flowing sap the next two weeks. Come on out to help gather with the Percheron draft horse-driven sap sled the next two Sundays, March 12 and 19. We'll gather behind the sugarhouse for the gathering portion of our event both days at 1 and 2 PM.
Special thanks to volunteer Sonny Williams for helping capture this event with photos. We appreciate you, Sonny!
