WASHINGTON, D.C. – On March 12, 2024, the House Natural Resources Committee advanced three of Congressman Dave Joyce’s bills including:
- H.R. 6235 – Harmful Algal Blooms and Hypoxia Research and Control Amendments Act: This legislation would reauthorize the Environmental Protection Agency’s Harmful Algal Blooms and Hypoxia Research Control Amendments program through 2028 to improve monitoring, forecasting, prevention, and mitigation of harmful algal blooms (HABs) and hypoxia in marine and freshwater ecosystems by requiring better coordination among task force agencies, and state and local entities, including Indian tribes.
- H.R. 5445 – Accelerating Appraisals and Conservation Efforts Act: This bill will enhance the Department of the Interior’s federal land appraisal process to better ensure that America’s principal land management agency is able to complete land transactions of all kinds as effectively and efficiently as possible.
- H.R. 4389 – Migratory Birds of the Americas Conservation Enhancement Act: This bill reauthorizes the Neotropical Migratory Bird Conservation Act for the next 5 years. This program provides competitive grants for habitat conservation, research and monitoring, and community outreach and education.
“Representative Joyce has been a champion of conservation issues this Congress, and the bills we passed through the Natural Resources Committee today are the perfect example of that dedication. These bills will continue to help his district, constituents, and our nation by advancing our conservation efforts into the future. I want to thank Representative Joyce for his work on these issues, and I look forward to helping him pass these bills into law,” said House Natural Resources Chairman Westerman.
